FAQ
What makes Grave Shift Coffee & Tea different?
Grave Shift Coffee & Tea was built by one of your own.
After serving 30 years as a first responder—many of them working nights—I knew the people protecting our communities deserved better than stale break room coffee and gas station coffee.
That's why Grave Shift was built on three simple principles:
SERVICE • QUALITY • FRESHNESS
We source specialty-grade coffee, roast every order after it's placed, and focus on delivering exceptional coffee and tea instead of building warehouse inventory.
Whether you're a first responder, healthcare professional, military member, corrections officer, dispatcher, shift worker, or simply someone who appreciates great coffee, you're always welcome in the Grave Shift Community.
Fresh coffee and tea, delivered to fit your shift.
When is my coffee roasted?
Every order is roasted after you place it. Freshness matters.
We don't roast months in advance or warehouse coffee waiting to be sold. Your coffee is roasted specifically for your order, helping preserve the flavor, aroma, and freshness that specialty coffee is known for. Your coffee arrives rich in flavor, full of character, and at peak quality. Most orders are roasted, packaged, and shipped within 2 business days.
It's one of the ways we deliver on our commitment to:
SERVICE • QUALITY • FRESHNESS
What does "Built for those who operate after midnight" mean?
Grave Shift exists for the people who keep our communities, hospitals, businesses, and families running when others are asleep.
That includes first responders, healthcare professionals, military personnel, dispatchers, corrections officers, security professionals, tow truck operators, shift workers, and anyone whose schedule doesn't fit the traditional 9-to-5.
It also includes anyone who simply appreciates exceptional coffee and tea.
Grave Shift is more than coffee and tea.
It's a community built around service, resilience, and the people who continue showing up when it matters most.
SERVICE • QUALITY • FRESHNESS
Which coffee should I choose?
There isn't just one right answer.
Many of our customers enjoy different coffees for different times of the day, different brewing methods, and different moods. A bold dark roast might be the perfect way to start an early shift, while a smooth medium roast or decaf may be exactly what you're looking for later in the day.
If you're new to Grave Shift, we recommend starting with our Sample 6 Pack Line-Up. It's the easiest way to experience a variety of roast profiles and discover which coffees fit your shift.
Build your line-up, because one coffee doesn't fit every shift.
Each product page includes tasting notes, roast information, and flavor profiles to help guide your choice.
Who started Grave Shift and why?
Grave Shift Coffee & Tea was founded by a retired Police Captain and first responder with 30 years of public service.
Throughout his career, investigative callouts, tactical emergencies, early morning search warrants, long training days, late-night arrests, 2 a.m. vehicle pursuits, hours spent waiting at the local emergency room, and countless pages of reports all had one thing in common.
The coffee.
Whether it came from a gas station, a hospital cafeteria, a restaurant, or a break room, it was usually something you drank because you needed caffeine—not because you enjoyed it.
After retirement, he set out to build something different.
A specialty-grade coffee and tea company dedicated to the people working long shifts, overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and the moments when the rest of the world is asleep.
Today, every decision at Grave Shift continues to follow the same three principles that inspired the company from the beginning:
SERVICE • QUALITY • FRESHNESS
What products do you carry?
We believe one coffee doesn't fit every shift.
That's why Grave Shift offers a full line of specialty-grade coffees, premium loose-leaf teas, instant coffee, single-serve coffee pods, and Night Shift Essentials including drinkware, apparel, and accessories.
Whether you're building your coffee line-up, discovering your favorite tea, or looking for the perfect gift, you'll find products built around one simple philosophy:
SERVICE • QUALITY • FRESHNESS

Commitment to Sustainability and Ethical Practices
What types of tea do you offer?
Tea is a serious part of what we do at Grave Shift. Our primary format is loose leaf tea — whole or large-cut leaves that steep into a fuller, more complex cup than anything in a bag. We carry black, green, oolong, herbal, and blended teas, plus ceremonial grade matcha — the highest quality available, stone-ground from the youngest shade-grown leaves.
How long does shipping take?
Orders typically ship within 2–3 business days after roasting. We move fast so freshness isn't lost in transit.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes! We offer free economy shipping on all orders.
What is your return policy?
We want you to be completely satisfied with your order. For full details on returns, refunds, and exchanges, please visit our Return Policy page.
How should I store my coffee?
Store your coffee in an airtight container away from heat, light, and moisture. Grind just before brewing and use within 3–4 weeks of the roast/order date.
What grind size should I order?
Matching grind size to your brew method makes a big difference. As a quick guide: coarse for French press and cold brew, medium for drip machines, fine for pour-over and espresso.
